Kinesiology, literally the study of body movement, encompasses holistic health disciplines which use gentle manual muscle testing to monitor information about a person’s well being. It originated in the 1960′s combining Western techniques with Eastern wisdom to promote physical, emotional and spiritual health. Kinesiology identifies factors that block the body’s natural healing process. These dysfunctions are rectified by attention to reflex and acupressure points, the use of specific body movements and nutritional support. Kinesiology can relieve pain, stress, muscular and nervous disorders; detect allergies and nutritional deficiencies; assist with psychological and learning problems, stimulate energies and release untapped potential.
Stress can manifest itself in many ways, particularly in the body. Have you ever noticed when you are faced with a situation, say when you’re nervous, you can feel that in your body in the form of butterflies or a tightening sensation in your stomach. Or when you’re angry, you can experience increased heart rate and perspiration, shallow breathing, or flushed cheeks.
This is the mind-body connection in action.
Prolonged and sustained experience of these symptoms could potentially lead to unwanted health issues such as gut problems or high blood pressure, which could then lead to further stress in trying to manage and control these symptoms. It can become a never ending cycle.
Kinesiology is a modality that seeks to address stress as it presents itself – this could be either physically, emotionally or energetically. Using gentle muscle monitoring techniques,
kinesiology looks at identifying and treating the root cause of the issue at hand
– what was making you nervous or angry, where was this pattern first learned – rather than just focussing on the symptoms experienced, making it a more effective treatment in addressing any imbalances in your system.
